Breva -Submerge Magazine Promo

Night after night, day after day, people always ask the same thing…

To be honest, I’d rather give them a line from The Big Lebowksi or Tombstone… but I’m just not that good at improv. And anyways, in a time when “Screamo”… “Indie Pop”… “Neo Classical Metal” or “Nintendo Core” could be possible responses, it’s funny enough to see people confused when I answer “Rock and Roll” to their question about what BREVA sounds like.

And who would have thought that sounding like a “Rock and Roll” band includes being part artist, part truck driver, roadie, marketer, financial advisor, graphic designer, road map reading expert, social networker, performer, lawyer, mechanic, sound engineer, and so many more things? It can become more complicated than you might think. But at the end of the day, the thing that brought us together in the firstplace still drives us: we’re just four guys who grew up as “music lova’s” (<----that's a Tombstone line). Years ago we decided that we wanted to make our own, and so far it’s been a very interesting ride.

Our newest release, American Landscape, has songs ranging from love, commitment and mortality to songs of war, adultery and immorality. Lyrically I have always tried to write about things that have substantial meaning to me; experiences I've had, things I read, and dreams I've been submerged in. Sometimes I'll create a character that can come from any of these things and then, sometimes, the character is simply, and clearly me.

But ultimately, it’s up to the listener to decide who is who and what is what. I hope you can take some interest or feeling from the content in American Landscape, and hopefully make you think in a way you may not have expected to. Either way, enjoy the rock and roll.
